This Raw Food Birthday Cake Will Make Your Dog Frisky!

Every year when October rolls around, I start wondering what to make for Keira’s birthday party. It’s not that Keira is picky, she’s not. She loves food. But, as she’s aged I’m much more careful and persnickety with what I offer to her. I’m not much of a cook but this year I wanted to make something special for her 11th birthday party. A raw food cake sounded delicious.

Recently, we transitioned from feeding 100% kibble to raw food. Keira is still eating a mixture of both mainly because I have a bunch of kibble to finish. But, she thoroughly adores the raw food addition to her dining menu.

Dogs and Cats Can Enjoy Raw Food

We prefer the Balanced Blends Raw Food company. The food comes delivered frozen but its conveniently pre-cut, so it makes thawing and serving so simple. Keira loves the food, and we love the ease and knowledge that included in each serving is the appropriate blend of minerals and vitamins in this balanced diet. It’s been a perfect match for our busy lifestyle.

Contest and Sweepstakes – Sweet!

Imagine how thrilled I am to participate in the Balanced Blends Recipe Contest. The purpose is to “Make Raw Feeding Fun,” and boy did we have a fun party this year!

Keira loved the “PumpChiken” cakes that I created! Made with delicious raw chicken sandwiched between a pumpkin quinoa cake. They didn’t last long, and all the dogs loved them, including Rosa, a particularly finicky eater.

I don’t have the time to do raw feeding with the girls. I tried a brand that was frozen and the girls didn’t like it. They do like the freeze-dried raw treats, though.

Ruby is on a rotational diet and we do include some raw in the mix. I have never heard of Balanced Blend before. I will definitely check them out.

That is an interesting food alternative! Gremlin’s diet is so so important to us. I think he’d really go for the pumpchicken!

You’re making Magical-Dawg drool! Neat idea, Magic’s birthday is in July but the cats have celebrations coming up.

Sounds like a great recipe, and the dogs certainly seemed to be enjoying it! Although Jack eats a good food, I’ve been toying with the idea of adding some raw. For some reason I’ve been thinking all or nothing, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
